Maybe we should “judge?”

People misquote “don’t judge” all the time. For instance, in the same chapter Jesus said “you’ll know a tree by its fruit.”

So how can we determine a tree by its fruit without what many Americans call “judging” in this case the fruit (eg a person’s actions)?

Judgement doesn’t mean discerning. Judgment doesn’t mean calling something right or wrong.

Judgment—in the sense Jesus uses it—is “hypocrisy.”

For instance don’t verbally attack someone for being caught in a lie if you’re in the middle of your own lies.
