We missed a really important DETAIL in the story of the rich young ruler.

We missed a really important DETAIL in the story of the rich young ruler.

He asked Jesus, “What must I DO to INHERIT eternal life?” (Mark 10:17)

Think about that: How do you inherit something? You don’t WORK for an inheritance—you RECEIVE it because you’re a SON or DAUGHTER.

This man was trying to earn something that only comes through relationship. He was trying to DO instead of simply FOLLOW.

Jesus didn’t ask him to add one more rule—He invited him to surrender everything and become a true child of God.

Here’s the good news: Eternal life isn’t a prize for the religious—it’s a gift for the redeemed. It’s not earned by rule-keeping—it’s received by trusting Jesus.

You don’t have to perform your way into the Kingdom. You just have to follow the King.

Was there something you used to think you had to do to earn God’s love—only to realize later it was already yours in Christ?
